⭐ Steps to Become a Registered Massage Therapist in BC (CCHPBC Registration Guide)

1. Create Your CCHPBC Online Account

Register for an applicant account on the CCHPBC portal.

2. Enter Your Personal Information

Provide your legal name, contact details, and identity information.

3. Add Your Educational Information

Input the details of your approved RMT program and graduation date.

4. Upload Required Educational Documents

Submit:

  • Your RMT Diploma
  • A passport-style photo that meets CCHPBC requirements

5. Register for Your Exams

Sign up for all required exams:

  • PBA (Performance-Based Assessment / OSCE)
  • CKT (Competency Knowledge Test / written exam)
  • LEP (Legal, Ethics & Professionalism exam)

6. Choose Your Exam Dates & Times

Select available exam sittings that best fit your schedule.

7. Pay Your Exam Fees

Submit payment through the CCHPBC portal. $1970

  • PBA (Performance-Based Assessment / OSCE) $1040
  • CKT (Competency Knowledge Test / written exam) $490
  • LEP (Legal, Ethics & Professionalism exam)$372

8. Attend All Required Exams

Complete your PBA, CKT, and LEP.

9. Wait for Your Results

Exam results are released within approximately 6 weeks from the last exam date of your exam group.

10. Congratulations ~ You Passed! 🎉

You now proceed to the final registration requirements.

11. Submit Your Character References

Provide three character references who:

  • Are Canadian residents
  • Are not friends or social acquaintances
  • Ideally know you in a professional or educational context
  • Can speak to your character, ethics, and reliability

12. Provide Proof of Eligibility to Work in Canada

Upload one of the following:

  • Canadian Passport , Including the signature page , with clear signature
  • Citizenship Certificate, both front and back
  • Permanent Resident Card
  • Other accepted proof

13. Upload Your Valid First Aid Certification

Must meet CCHPBC’s approved first aid & CPR requirements.

14. Provide Your Professional Liability Insurance (PLI)

Upload proof of insurance that meets minimum coverage standards.

15. Complete the Criminal Record Check (CRC)

Follow the CCHPBC instructions to begin your CRC request.

16. Print, Sign, and Upload the CRC Consent Form

You will receive a consent form — print it, sign it, and upload the scanned copy to your portal.

17. Complete All Required Declarations

Review and submit the declarations confirming:

  • Your professional conduct
  • Your good character
  • Your compliance with health profession regulations
  • Truthfulness of your submitted information

Once all steps are completed and approved, you will receive your official RMT registration in British Columbia.

A quick reminder: Some massage therapy students register for their exams while still in their final term. In this case, your school will provide a temporary eligibility letter that you must upload to the CCHPBC portal to register for the exams.
Once you graduate, be sure to upload your official diploma during the final registration stage.
